5.Nokia case

Exercise 1. To reflect about the Nokia case (Prof. Outi Sutinen) and establish the relationships with the projects of Fantastic Four and Waking Up have performed about NoKia from the logistic point of view.

 

• Points in Common:

They both include a lot of information about Nokia company in their presentations.
They also talk about how management is carried out in Nokia and present us Nokia´s evolution.

 

• Service and product design :

The three presentations talk about the the importance of the product design. More people get sensitive with the design of a mobile, especially teenagers.
Pr.Outi explained the problem that Nokia had with the chinese mobile design made by Samsung "Startack" that was imposible to create for Nokia due to the opening system that it had.This was an important mistake made by Nokia because they could have obteined great benefits from the Oriental countries.

 

• Quality management :

Here, the importance of quality and services is linked to the localisation of the enterprise, which is in Oulou, far from the center of Europe.

 

• Process, capacity design :

Very importance was given to the localisation of enterprises that is not only located in one place but also distributed all around the world.

 

• Differences:

Professor Outi´s presentation presents us a more general view of Nokia Company and its evolution in the world.
On the other hand Waking Up presentation and Fantastic Four are mainly focused on the management point and how the company is structured.
She pointed out that customers are very important for the company so the company should always be concentrated on the customer´s desires and needs.
Another important point in Professor Outi´s presentation is that she started her presentation introducing herself.It gives all the information a more friendly view to the public and creates a nice atmosphere for the presentation.
